I found this meme over on Shelf Life and thought it would make a good vacation post.
Here are my preferences – what are yours?
Reading something frivolous? Or something serious? Serious. I get bored with frivolous.
Paperbacks? Or hardcovers? Either one.
Fiction? Or Nonfiction? Fiction!
Poetry? Or Prose? Prose.
Biographies? Or Autobiographies? Autobiographies. I want to hear it in their own words.
History? Or Historical Fiction? My history degree notwithstanding, historical fiction.
Series? Or Stand-alones? Stand-alones.
Classics? Or best-sellers? Neither, honestly.
Lurid, fruity prose? Or straight-forward, basic prose? Less is more.
Plots? Or Stream-of-Consciousness? Plots, definitely.
Long books? Or Short? Shortish. Otherwise I spend the whole time thinking about how slowly I am reading.
Illustrated? Or Non-illustrated? Non, unless I am reading to my kids.
Borrowed? Or Owned? Owned, for sure.
New? Or Used? I like 'em both. There's nothing like a crisp new book, but I love a bargain!
About Me
I have been blogging about books here at Everyday I Write the Book since 2006. I love to read, and I love to talk about books and what other people are reading.
