I just spent about an hour going through my Google Reader, and I thought that I would post tonight about some of my favorite blogs. Some are book-related, some are not. These are just some of the blogs I follow regularly, for any number of reasons. There are many more where these came from – I think I will make this a regular feature.
This wonderful blog identifies cool items of clothing – many worn by celebrities – and finds them for a fraction of the price at less expensive stores. I always find cute stuff on here and I love a bargain. This is one of the first blogs I click on every day.
Shallow Gal, also known as Amy, is one of the mom bloggers I read faithfully. She is also one of the few bloggers who consistently makes me laugh out loud. She is hysterical. Her posts are usually footnoted – and the footnotes are often even funnier than the rest of the post. I have had the pleasure of hanging out with Amy a few times in person, and I always look forward to seeing her.
Jill at Breaking the Spine seems to have the same taste in books as I do (current women's fiction). I found her blog last year and have been reading it ever since. Her reviews are spot-on, her posting schedule is manageable (!), and I always enjoy hearing what she has to say.
This popular blog collects passive aggressive notes (from roommates, parents, friends, neighbors, co-workers) and prints them, along with commentary that reveals both amusement and surprise that people can be so rude. Love it.
Jennifer Hart at HarperCollins runs an excellent book blog that often links to interviews, blog radio shows, and other sites featuring author Q&As. She is a great champion of the book blogging community, and, as a working mom like me, has a great perspective on life, family, and reading.
Another excellent parenting/humor blog, though she covers a lot more ground than parenting. Bossy, aka Georgia, is extremely funny. The captions on her beautiful photos alone are worth the visit. I have also gotten to meet Bossy in person, and we've stayed in touch, which I am really happy about.
I am not a creative person – at all – so I need to rely on others for inspiration. I love Little Green Notebook, an interior design blog written by Jenny, who has a great eye. I get cool ideas from her all the time – not that I ever use any of them. Someday…
That is just a start. Please share some of your favorites too.
About Me
I have been blogging about books here at Everyday I Write the Book since 2006. I love to read, and I love to talk about books and what other people are reading.
