Children’s Books: TABITHA’S TERRIFICALLY TOUGH TOOTH and HOW TO BE A GOOD DOG

Over the weekend, I took my girls (aged 4) to the library to pick out some books. We’ve been working our way through them. Tonight, we read two cute books that prompted both girls to say, “That was a really good book!”.

Tooth The first is about a girl with a loose tooth, who comes up with many ingenious (but ultimately unsuccessful) plans to get it out of her mouth. It’s called Tabitha’s Terrifically Tough Tooth, by Charlotte Middleton. My favorite scheme is when she stuck bubble gum on her tooth and stretched it all the way to the door, which she then closed. I also liked her relationship with her cat. Very cute book -great for getting the pre-K set ready for the idea of losing a tooth.

Bobo The second book is called How To Be A Good Dog, by Gail Page. Bobo the dog tries so hard to be good, but he keeps messing up (barking, lying all over the couch, eating homework) and ends up in the doghouse. The cat misses him (surprising herself as well) and takes it on herself to teach him some basic commands. The best part of this book are the drawings of the dog, who at one point assumes a yoga meditation pose on the couch in an effort to “sit” and not squirm.
