I agree with your review of his book. I too was really looking forward to a new book from him, very disappointing read. The entire book was a “pity me” party for him. Perhaps this book was actually his autobiography.

I really liked it, and meant to write my review right away, but still haven’t written it. I think what I liked about it the most was the friendship between the three guys, who see themselves (and each other) pretty much as losers. While reading, I felt kind of like the author was writing without worrying about what women would think about this guy, his main character, who had traded family life for a minor rock star’s life, and just tried to show us this flawed person who didn’t see that he had anything to live for.
